Insights

The Philips Multigroom 7000 has a sturdy metal frame and unique design. Its ergonomic design and sturdy build quality are likely the reasons for its popularity.

Here is a closer look at the insights of the Philips 7000 men’s multi-grooming device:

Self-sharpening Blades: The Philips Norelco Multigroom 7000 uses self-sharpening steel blades that are sharper than normal blades. It means you can always be sure of a precise trim, no matter how thick or coarse your beard/hair is. Another plus is that the self-sharpening blades rarely need maintenance to keep them fit for the next use.

Battery and Charge: The Philips Multigroom 7000 comes with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that can provide up to 5 hours of cordless power for whole-body grooming. It means you can use the trimmer to trim your beard, hair, body, nose, and ear hair without worrying about running out of battery for a prolonged time.

It also has a quick charge feature that can give you enough power for a quick trim with just a 3-5 minute charge. This is ideal if you’re in a hurry or forgot to charge your trimmer after fully draining the power.

Corded Operation: Another key feature of the Philips Multigroom 7000 is that it can be used while charging. This means that you can continue to use the trimmer even if the battery is low simply by plugging it in.

Tip: It’s best practice to use the trimmer cordless for optimal performance and safety. If you use the trimmer with the cord, be very careful and avoid any contact with water. Make sure that the trimmer and the attachments are completely dry before plugging in the cord.

Waterproof: The Philips Multigroom 7000 and its attachments are fully waterproof, so you can easily clean them under running water. This makes it very easy to keep the device clean and hygienic.

Here are some additional benefits of having a fully waterproof grooming device:

  • You can use it in the shower or bath, which can save time.
  • You can clean it more easily and thoroughly.
  • It is less likely to rust or corrode.

What’s in the Box

The big package comes with the following items, including the aluminum finish and rubberized Philips Norelco Multigroom 7000 trimmer handle:

Trimmer Head: This is the beard-trimming attachment. It is considered to be the main trimming attachment in this package. I found this attachment to be attached to the handle when I unboxed the trimmer.

Adjustable Trimmer Guard: The Philips Norelco Multigroom 7000 trimmer comes with two adjustable trimming guards that let you customize your grooming experience. One guard is designed for precision trimming, which allows you to trim your beard or hair with fine detail and accuracy. It offers trimming lengths from 1mm to 3mm, with 0.2mm incremental steps. The other guard is suitable for longer beard or hair trimming, which gives you more flexibility and control over your style. It offers trimming lengths from 3mm to 7mm. You can easily switch between the guards and adjust the length settings according to your preference. These guards are completely new in the latest model (MG7910/49) of Multigroom 7000 trimmer, which were not included in the older model (MG7750/49)

Extra-wide Hair Trimmer: This attachment is for trimming large areas of hair quickly and evenly, such as your head and chest. It has a wide blade that covers more surface area and cuts through thick hair with ease.

Precision Trimmer Head: This attachment is to trim small areas with precision, such as your sideburns and mustache. You can also create outlines and edges around your beard and hair with this head. It is designed to cut close to the skin without causing irritation.

Nose and Ear Trimmer: This attachment is for trimming unwanted hair from your nose and ears. It has a round-shaped blade that gently rotates and cuts the hair without pulling or tugging. It is easy to clean and washable under running water. It also helps you breathe better and prevent infections by removing excess hair.

Hair Guards: There are 4 extra wide hair guards (4mm, 9mm, 12mm, 16mm) that are used with the extra-wide hair trimmer head. These guards can be used to adjust the length of your hair trim.

Fading Guards: There are two fading guards (left and right) with the Philips multiform 7000 series trimmer that allows you to fade your hair or beard.

Body Guards: The Philips Multigroom 7000 trimmer includes 2 body guards that you can use with the beard trimmer head. These guards are designed to trim the hair on your chest, abdomen, legs, arms, and other body parts. You can select from 3mm and 5mm guards depending on how short you want your hair to be. These guards are specially designed to be flexible and comfortable to use on your body contours.

Eyebrow Guard: The package contains an eyebrow guard that you can use to trim and shape your eyebrows. This guard is compatible with the detail trimmer head. It has a fixed length of 3 mm which gives you a natural and neat look. The guard is easy to use and follows the curve of your eyebrows. It also prevents over-trimming and accidental cuts.

As mentioned before, the metal trimmer is the main attachment and can be used to trim your beard, hair, body, nose, and ear hair. The other attachments can be used to customize your trim to your liking. The package also comes with some additional items, such as a storage bag to keep your trimmer and attachments organized, a small cleaning brush to remove any hair from the blades, and a power cord to charge your trimmer.

Personal Experience

Personally, it’s one of my favorite grooming tools that I ever reviewed. While talking with the real users of Philips Norelco Multigroom Series 7000, I got maximum positive reactions from them. The metallic built quality of the handle feels very sturdy, and on the other hand, the rubber grip at the upper and back side makes it comfortable to grasp. In the same vein, the manufacturer made the trimming guards with ultra-strong fiberglass material that resists bending and buckling, feels durable, fits securely on the trimmer head, and glides smoothly over my skin. The trimming capacity is good enough since it comes with a reinforced motor to tackle the thickness of the beard and hair to cut efficiently, and I haven’t found any pulling issues yet.

However, the trimmer has a limitation for head hair trimming, as the longest trimming length it can achieve is 18 mm. This is very short compared to dedicated hair clippers. However, this is understandable, as the trimmer is not designed specifically for head hair. You can also extend the trimming length using a barber comb, which I have done with this and some other beard trimmers. I found all the trimming attachments perform well in their functions, but the foil head may cause discomfort if you use it on longer stubble. It may pull or tug the hair instead of cutting it smoothly.

Therefore, you should trim the hair before using the foil shaver. This is also understandable, as the foil shaver is not the main feature of the trimmer. However, you should use it with care to get the best shaving results. One issue I faced was that the rechargeable battery lost its capacity and could not hold a charge after 3 years of use. I had to buy a new one to replace it. I don’t know if this is a common problem or just my bad luck. However, I think 3 years is a reasonable lifespan for the battery, and the trimmer is not very expensive to complain about. Besides, I can still use my old one with the cord plugged in. Therefore, I think the Philips Norelco Multigroom 7000 trimmer is a great investment for grooming from head to toe.

Comparison with Alternatives

Philips Norelco Multigroom 9000: The Multigroom 9000 is a close alternative to the Philips Norelco Multigroom 7000. They have similar designs and built quality, but the 9000 has more features and attachments. This makes it more expensive than the 7000. The 9000 has a larger battery that lasts for 6 hours of cordless use, while the 7000 lasts for 5 hours. They are both suitable for grooming your whole body, but the 9000 has a special body groomer for better results. The 9000 also comes with a premium travel bag, while the 7000 has a simple fabric storage bag. The 9000 has more options for trimming your beard and hair, and you can get a haircut up to 20 mm long with it. In summary, both models are excellent choices for whole-body grooming, but the 9000 offers some extra benefits. Therefore, if you have a higher budget, you may want to try the 9000, but if you think you don’t need those extra features and want to save some money, the 7000 is great for you.

Philips Norelco Multigroom 5000: The Philips Norelco Multigroom 5000 is another alternative to the 7000. It is a previous series trimmer that has fewer features and attachments, but it is also much cheaper than the 7000. The main handle of the 5000 is made of plastic and soft rubber grip, while the 7000 has a stronger built quality with a metal frame. The 5000 trimmer can also trim your whole body, but it does not have a shaving option or a shaving head included. The 5000 trimmer has fewer options for trimming lengths than the 7000, and the longest length it can trim is 13 mm. The battery life of the 5000 trimmer is also shorter than the 7000, as it lasts for 3 hours of cordless use, while the 7000 lasts for 5 hours. Therefore, if you are willing to compromise on some features and want a quality trimmer, you may choose the Philips Multigroom 5000 trimmer.

Verdict

The Philips Norelco Multigroom 7000 is an excellent grooming tool that can handle all trimming needs from head to toe. It has a sharp and precise performance, a long-lasting battery, a durable and sleek design, and a generous bundle of attachments. It is also easy to use, clean, and store. However, it may not be ideal for sensitive areas or cutting thick or curly hair. If you are looking for a versatile and powerful groomer that can give you a smooth and comfortable shave, the Philips Norelco Multigroom 7000 is worth considering.
